Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to review the implementation of Imam Al-Ghazali’s perspective particularly about students of the 21st century in Islamic education. It has been known that a student's role changes according to their educational environment, students of the 21st century are required to master skills that are different from their predecessors. Thus, it’s necessary to adjust the education system in an era full of technology. The main focus of this research is to study the character in an educational environment. One of the well-known Muslim figures in the field of education is Imam Al-Ghazali. He described how a knowledgeable and religious learner should act while seeking knowledge. This article was written using the literature study method and presented as qualitative descriptive information. The results show that Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective on students of the 21st century is in accordance with the goal of Islamic education, which is to obtain happiness in this world and the hereafter. Without a clear direction to guide students’ potential skills, they won’t be able to thrive. Likewise in the moral aspect, Islamic education is needed to guide students so that a strong foundation of faith is able to withstand harmful influences.
