Islamic education plays a crucial role in shaping the character, morals, and social ethics of the community, as well as in building social awareness and human values. In South Sorong, particularly in Kokoda, the majority of the population is Muslim. Information regarding the history of Islamic education is still very limited, resulting in a lack of understanding of how Islam arrived, the date and year, and its development in the region. Therefore, the contributions of local figures and Islamic organizations are very influential in the development of education and the spread of Islamic teachings. The history of Islam's arrival in this region is closely related to the influence of Islamic kingdoms in Maluku, such as Tidore and Ternate, which introduced Islamic teachings through preachers and traders. This study aims to document the history of Islamic education in Kokoda, identify the role of local figures, and analyze the influence of Islamic kingdoms in Maluku on the development of Islamic education in this region. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach, which includes in-depth interviews, observation, and document collection. The results show that although physical evidence of the early history of Islam's arrival in Kokoda is very limited, oral traditions and local culture have played a significant role in the spread of Islamic teachings. In addition, Islamic organizations in Kokoda act as agents of religious moderation and mentors for the younger generation, as well as helping to strengthen the Islamic identity of the local community.
